Arc'teryx Alpha SL

Brand: Arc'teryx
Model: Alpha SL (http://www.arcteryx.com/product.aspx?Alpha-SL-Jacket)
Material: Goretex Paclite
Reviewed Item: Small, Taupe (discontinued colour)
From: Ellis Brigham (http://www.ellishbrigham.com/)
Features:

Embroided logo on left breast. Laminated zip pocket (the only one) with moulded garage and grip cords. Finely spaced stitching.

Long laminated pit zips with two grip cord zip heads.

Highly adjustable helmet hood with 4 hands free adjustment cords and a rigid cap.

Laminated finely stitched seams throughout for maximum water resistance.

Dual hands free adjustment cords for the waist.

Secure velcro cuff tabs.

A feature often disliked, an extra high waist cut. I presume this is done to accomodate harnesses.

The Goretex Paclite fabric is extremely light weight and can easily be folded into a small package.

Overall: A great looking light weight, durable jacket. Extremely well made and packed with all the features you could want. I am normally a medium, but the small fit me with room to spare for layering underneath. I would recommend trying out an Arc'teryx garment in a shop if you are thinking of ordering online. The price was average, as most paclite items are higher than the standard light weight waterproofs (eg Marmot Precip, North Face Venture). The Arc'teryx link above links to the revised version, which has two side pockets instead of the one small shown here. Unfortunately, they decided to discontinue the taupe colour. They have also released a half zip version, I believe to save weight.
If you are in the UK, I believe Ellis Brigham is the only retailer to stock the Alpha SL. American prices are a little lower (around £50 lower) but if you order it online, shipping and tax will level it roughly to the UK price.
I'm really looking foward to testing this properly in Yosemite!
